Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not surewhy but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, or won't start, the car'sidle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is onthe right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy tochange and get too

SOURCE: wwher is the fuel pump relay fuse located?
there are two fuse locations, under the dash by your left foot, and under the hood behind the passenger side headlight. Your question is really NOT that easy to answer, there is no stock location for a "fuel pump relay" fuse, the fuel pump is powered by power coming from the MFI relay. Fuse #1 under the hood supports the MFI relay as do fuses 1 and 12 under the dash. Check all three. There are reasons a fuel pump won't start that are not related to the fuse... if you check them and determine that the fuses are not blown, with the ignition turned to the on position, try powering the fuel pump test jack, if your fuel pump comes on, it is something else (probably a bad cam/crank sensor) To power the test jack, run a test wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the connector stuffed down behind the passenger side strut tower between the strut tower and the fire wall. It should be a black connector connected to a single black wire with a BLUE stripe. There will be three connectors bundled together, a black one, a blue one, and a round brown one (the round one is for setting timing and the blue is for setting idle, do NOT mess with them) When you power the test connector, the fuel pump should come on, regardless of the MFI relay or the fuses... if it does not, you need a new fuel pump. Cheers,
Scott

SOURCE: My 2001 Suzuki XL 7 is consumming excessive fuel 1litre for 4 km
Poor fuel consumption can be caused by a few things. One being the O2 sensor. You should also check your spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and try to find out whens the last time the vehicle had a tune up. Check your tires and make sure they are properly inflated as underinflated tires can make the engine work harder and consume more fuel. A little preventive maintanence goes a long way. Check engine light usually means the computer has detected a problem with the emission control for your vehicle. Have that checked ASAP because the longer you drive with the light on the greater the chances of permanent damage to the ECS.

SOURCE: locate fuel filter, and safety switch to fuel pump
The filter is located at the rear seat, you have to remove it first, then you will see a cap attach with some screws. Inside that cap you`ll find the fuel filter. Before you change the fuel filter you have to release the fuel pressure first. To do that, first find the FUEL PUMP RELAY in the main fuse box located in the engine. Once you located open the fuel door and take off the cap and leave it open. Start the engine, take off the FUEL PUMP RELAY and leave the engine stop itself, when this occurs turn off the key, the you can take off the filter and changed it

SOURCE: fuel pump location 2001 pontiac grand am
The fuel pump is in the fuel tank.Sit in the car.....turn on the ignition switch to run.....listen very closely to the rear of the car...or have someone kneel down by the back wheel.....you should hear a "prime cycle"......the pump running for 2 or 3 seconds if the key was off for 15 seconds before trying this.If you hear silence you most likely need a fuel pump. Before pulling the tank down....check for power on the gray wire at the fuel tank connector just ahead of the rear axle under the car.Check for power with a test light that will last for 2 to 3 seconds as you turn on the key to run.Power means you really most likely need a pump.No power means you may need a fuse or a fuel pump relay.

Did you try to replace the starter cable? is the Truck turning over or just clicking.? If it's turning over and not starting. Best guess would be one of two things. Knock sensors Located under intake manifold. they get wet and deteriorate or the fuel pump. I've replaced all three on mine. 233k still running strong...
